Overactive Bladder (OAB)

Overactive Bladder (OAB)

Overactive bladder is defined as urinary urgency with or without urgency urinary incontinence (involuntary loss of urine) in the absence of urinary tract infection or obvious pathology. It is often characterized by bothersome symptoms such as the feeling to void frequency, leakage of urine if you cannot make it to the bathroom on time, waking in the night to void and the most common symptom of an urgent need to void.

If you find yourself constantly looking for bathrooms, or if you fear going to the movies due to the need to constantly void, then you may have an overactive bladder. This symptom complex can negatively effect your quality of life. Fortunately there are many treatment options.

During your evaluation at South Land Urology you will undergo a thorough history, physical exam along with some simple tests. A urine analysis, and an ultrasound of your bladder after you have voided are part of our standard treatment protocol.

Axonics Therapy with sacral neuromodulation is a treatment option for patients that have tried more conservative treatment options.
